Ingenue, “Constant Craving”
Written with k.d. lang in the spring vancouver 1991…we wrote the verses very quickly…then tortured ourselves for 3 days on the chorus alone, going back and forth about exactly what melody notes to use.
I guess we picked the right ones.
Hymns of the 49th Parallel, “Hallelujah”
Leonard’s much celebrated song…this take was actually a run through attempt while learning the song. kd hand held the studio mic…I propped my chart between my knee and guitar… we all gathered round in a small jazz style set up. It was basically done in one take… strings added a week later.
Her 2010 Vancouver Olympic live performance of the song is now already legendary.
